Masters sports are designed for every level of ability. Masters athletes seek to reach their best beyond the public perception of “prime years.” Masters sports are designed for every level of ability, from entry level athletes through ex-national team members. It provides the next step for up and coming accomplished athletes who are late bloomers looking for a challenge to take their sport to a new level.
Masters racing offers more than high-quality competition. The comaraderie and friendships that develop are a key benefit that grows out of participation in masters sports. At many events, masters racing is a family affair, where two or three generations compete. Masters sports are highly social, and the masters are a friendly group. Of the reasons current masters list for participation, camaraderie is always among the first. Second, of course, is a love of competition.
Masters sports provide opportunities to meet and compete with a group of extraordinary individuals from all walks of life. Many industry pioneers compete in masters sports, including ski area developers, 10th Mountain Division alumni, equipment and clothing entrepreneurs, former national team members and honored members of the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame.
