BIOGRAPHY
California boy Jayson Hale likes to think and finish big, that's why he mapped out his first World Cup podium for the '05 World Championships with a bronze medal. A speed junkie with a passion for snowboarding, Jayson believes snowboardcross is the pure combination of all riding disciplines. "It's like setting gates through a slopestyle park and running it at full speed with five guys next to you," says Jayson.

UPDATE
According to Hale, the season started of slowly, but mid way through the winter his started to pick up where he left off a year and a half ago when he was injured. At the end of the season the 2006 Olympic team member broke the World Cup top 20 three times and had his coaches stoked on how strong he was riding. Now, to prepare for the 2010 season Hale packed up and made the journey from Tahoe to Park City to train with the rest of his team.

FIRST TRACKS
At four years old, Jayson credits his blond mullet and urge to huck his skis off natural kickers for giving him the snowboarding bug. The skis died on a family ski trip to Boreal and he found himself sitting in the lodge bumming with a bowl of soup when cousin Nye offered up his 162. He straight-lined the bunny hill with his mini ski boots strapped into the enormous board and said good-bye to skis. The next summer, Mom and Dad hooked him up with a Burton Air 126 and U.S. Snowboarding wasn't far behind.
