BIOGRAPHY
With six X Games gold medals, the last of which he earned by five-peeting in 2010, Nate Holland should have enough precious metal to pave his driveway by now. But that won't keep him from trying to keep his legacy of kicking you-know-what alive in 2011. Born and raised in northern Idaho, Holland developed a taste for adventure at a young age, and that has carried him through to his career in one of the most daring sports there is. A snowboardcross specialist, he defines the sports chaotic style going all-out in every race. The two-time Olympian won't be slowing down any time soon, either, as he looks ahead to Sochi.
NATE SAYS
I had a blast this last season. I like high pressure seasons and this past one was definitely high pressure. I feed off of high pressure and I like to rise to the occasion. In my opinion this was my most successful season yet. I had the highest highs with winning the World Cup and X Games and felt the lows with coming one place out of medaling at the Olympics.
FIRST TRACKS
Holland was ripping the slopes of Schweitzer Mountain in a pair of Sorels and one of Burton's Performer Elite boards by the time he was eight. He knew he had to ride professionally after watching Shawn Farmer and Damian Sanders launch the legendary "fingers" of Squaw Valley in the classic snowboarding movie "Critical Condition."
OFF THE SNOW
When I'm not on the snow I enjoy activities that keep me busy like dirt biking, fly fishing, mountain biking and wakeboarding.
