BIOGRAPHY:
A snowboarding prodigy in his own right, Greg Bretz has been on a board from the age of 5 and began competing when he was 10. The youthful elite shook up the scene during the 2008 season, with podium finishes and wins on both the World Cup and Grand Prix circuits earning him his spot with the U.S. Snowboarding squad. Knowing his capabilities, Bretz then took serious strides in 2010, including considerable success at the Grand Prix. Thanks to solid top-10 finishes on the three-stop U.S. tour, the then 20-year-old Bretz qualified for a spot on the 2010 Olympic Team, where he notched a 12th in Vancouver. The 2011 season marked more podiums for Bretz, who landed second on two Grand Prix podiums, and then took a second and a third-place podium on the three-stop Dew Tour. Given his ability to steadily progress, Bretz will be a heavy contender for a ticket to Sochi.

GREG SAYS:
2011 was an exceptional year, from Olympics, to standing on the podium for Dew Tour and Grand Prix, I very much enjoyed last season. I was able finally take everything I've learned from the last few years and put them all together for one of the best seasons I've had. I am looking forward this up coming season to continue to jump to the next level with my snowboarding.

FIRST TRACKS:
Bretz remembers being frustrated a lot when he took his first turns at June Mountain in California at the age of 5. Yet his first snowboard, which was from his father who worked for lift maintenance at Mammoth Mountain, seemed to fit him better than a pair of skis ever could, so he stuck with it—not a bad decision for the Olympian.

OFF THE SNOW:
I just like to skateboard, play around with my friends, hang out with my parents and see my friends.
