      BIOGRAPHY
Taking a gold medal in halfpipe at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and the bronze medal in 1998 at the Nagano, Japan Olympics, Ross Powers is still holding strong in snowboarding—in snowboardcross.

Of course, it came as a surprise to no one that Powers has some serious skills on the SBX course. Before even making the U.S. Team, he took a third place finish in a World Cup race in Sunday River, ME in 2009. Then, in 2010 Powers gave people an even better reason to call him "Ross the Boss," as he took the job of Snowboard Director at Stratton Mountain School. But school didn't keep Powers away from the SBX course, and he made the trip out to Telluride for the World Cup before taking second in the X Games best method competition.

Between being a dad to daughters Victoria and Meredith and running the Snowboard program at Stratton Mountain School, Powers is still keeping up with the competition. In 2012 he competed in three competitions two World Cups and X Games.

      ROSS SAYS
I only got to do three events - Telluride and X games -  and they went well. I’m hanging in there, but not quite getting the results that I want. This year I really want to focus on getting up towards the podium and get some points so I can have one more chance for the Olympics.

      FIRST TRACKS
Powers was born and raised in Londonderry, VT. Considered snowboarding’s first child prodigy, he competed in his first U.S. Open competition at the age of 9 with his fourth grade class in attendance. He competed in nationals the next year and was a World Champion before his 18th birthday. In 1998, he represented the U.S. in Nagano to win the first Olympic halfpipe medal for the U.S.

      OFF THE SNOW
Powers can be found spending time with his family or playing sports. He enjoys taking his young daughters out to shred on their snowboards.
