COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Feb. 7) – Copper Mountain hosted the first of three Revolution Tour events on Sunday, opening with the snowboardcross. Jarod Minghini (Lake Tahoe, CA) and Celine Valentin (Simsbury, CT) were crowned champion, winning the final heat.
Minghini found himself in second place for most of the final heat with Roger Carver (Placerville, CA) in front. Carver, who managed to get the hole shot in all heats leading up to the final, was taken by surprise as Minghini passed him on the last turn to take the win. Chelone Miller (Franconia, NH) rounded out the podium in third, edging out Ross Andrews (Aspen, CO) in fourth.
Valentin out raced the field to take the win. Carrie Uren (Randle, WA) and Ashlyn Parker (Sandpoint, ID) trailed Valentin to post second and third place finishes. Jaqueline Hernandez, the winner of the Copper Rev Tour snowboardcross, found her self just shy of the podium in fourth.
The Rev Tour will pick up again on Monday with the halfpipe competition at Copper Mountain.
