USSA National Club Day
Saturday February 15, 2014
USSA National Club Day is the flagship event for USSA Club Development’s recognition programming.
All USSA clubs are invited to participate in the first annual USSA National Club Day to be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, during the Olympic Winter Games.
All participating clubs must register by Monday, January 6, 2014, to take full advantage of this opportunity, support materials, national publicity, marketing and group ordering opportunities.
While it will be up to each club to organize and host its own National Club Day events in a way that will best serve their needs, here are some common elements and suggestions for making the most of this opportunity:
USSA National Club Day Parade: A continuous skiing, snowboarding and cross country run will be coordinated for the entire day coast-to-coast (east to west). All participating clubs will be assigned a time to carry the torch in honor of their club, the many USSA clubs across the country and the Olympic athletes competing in Sochi.
9 a.m.: Opening Ceremony: one or potentially several clubs in the east will host a larger opening ceremony
in honor of clubs across the nation - all participating clubs can host similar events:
Morning: Regular training or continuation of events kicked off at opening ceremonies.
Noon: All club or club-public lunch and social that may include:
Afternoon: Regular training or continuation of National Club Day events. (Great time to host a club SkillsQuest event)
Après Ski or Club-Community Dinner – Olympic Viewing Party: Clubs across the country will bring out the cowbells and host an Olympic viewing party! This will act as the closing ceremonies and the final event of a fun-filled day.
Participating clubs will:
Celebrate a 100 day countdown to the Olympics as a Club!
Today (October 30,2013) marks the 100 day countdown to the Opening Ceremonies in Sochi! Clubs can use the Olympics as a way to market themselves as a club that participates in Olympic sports, generate more engagement and enrollment and excitement for the upcoming season. Also, stay tuned for more details on the NBC Gold Map project and the first annual "USSA National Club Day," which will be held in the heart of the Sochi Olympics on Saturday February 15, 2014.
You can also tie your club into the 100 day countdown through USSA's partner Universal Sports weekly Countdown to Sochi (see link below), and make a prominent display of a countdown calendar in your lodge or club room!
