USSA Club of the Year

Each year, USSA awards a club of the year for each sport based on outstanding organizational and/or athletic performance in that year. From each sport (alpine, cross country, freeskiing, freestyle, ski jumping/nordic combined and snowboarding), one club is selected at the USSA Club of the Year, a gold award presented annually at the USSA Chairman's Dinner.

2014 USSA Club of the Year - Ski and Snowboard Club Vail

Ski and Snowboard Club Vail is coming off another year of tremendous organizational growth and athletic success at all levels of the program.  On the alpine side, It placed two skiers on the Junior Wold Championships team, had nine top ten finishers at the U18 National Championships, and had the largest team (13 skiers) at the U16 National Championships.  At the U14 level, it won 69% of the total medals. The freestyle program saw nine athletes qualified to Nor-Am Tour events and 13 athletes qualified to US National Championships. Its snowboarding and freeskiing athletes saw success at every level, including Kaitlyn Farrington's gold medal performance in halfpipe snowboarding at the Olympic Winter Games. In the prior season, its cross-country team, "Team Homegrown", was awarded USSA Cross Country Club of the Year. Ski and Snowboard Club Vail implemented a comprehensive two-week professional development program for its coaching staff bringing in presenters and trainers in a variety of different areas. It continues to evolve its facilities and on-snow training venues to support sustained club performance.
