Project Gold Criteria

2013 Project Gold

US Snowboarding Project Gold Camp (Halfpipe/Slopestyle) will take place May 22-28 at Mammoth Mountain.  Official invites will be sent following USASA Nationals.

Project Gold is a progression based camps for ages 10-19.  The camp utilizes the US Snowboarding private team training venues at Mammoth Mountain. The Mammoth in May ideal for training and progression; airbags will be fitted to the ends of the halfpipe, and also 2 different sized jumps also with airbag and snow landings. Project Gold camp is led by US Snowboarding Coach Spencer Tamblyn and top club coaches. 

 

Selection Criteria

 

 

SELECTION PROCEDURES – Summary of Objective Selection:

  1. Selection criteria will be based exclusively on performances during the period from November,1 2012 through April 31, 2013. Riders must be between ages 10-19 for Halfpipe and Slopestyle and 15-19 for Snowboardcross and Alpine.  Athletes in each discipline shall be selected based solely upon their competition results for each discipline in selection events during the selection period. Athletes in Alpine, Halfpipe and Snowboardcross disciplines, will be selected objectively using the following:

 

  1. Alpine:
  • Top two (2) male and female junior athletes from each Race to the Cup event will be selected for Project Gold
  • Top two (2) male and female athletes from USASA Nationals Open Class
  • Top one (1) male and female athlete from USASA Nationals Junior Class

 

 

  1. Halfpipe:
  • Top four (4) male and female junior athletes from the Revolution Tour Overall Halfpipe standings will be selected for Project Gold:
  • Top two (2) male and female junior athletes from the USASA Open Class will be selected for Project Gold
  • Top one (1) male and female athlete from USASA Nationals Junior Class
  • Top one (1) male and female athlete from USASA Nationals Youth Class

 

 

  1. Slopestyle:
  • Top four (4) male and female junior athletes from the Revolution Tour Overall Halfpipe standings will be selected for Project Gold:

 

  • Top two (2) male and female junior athletes from the USASA Open Class will be selected for Project Gold

 

  • Top one (1) male and female athlete from USASA Nationals Junior Class

 

  • Top one (1) male and female athlete from USASA Nationals Youth Class

 

 

  1. Snowboardcross:
  • Top four (4) male and female junior athletes from the Hole Shot Tour Overall SBX Standings will be selected for Project Gold:

 

  • Top four (4) male and female junior athletes from the Revolution Tour Overall SBX standings will be selected for Project Gold.

 

  • Top two (2) male and female junior athletes from the USASA Open Class will be selected for Project Gold

B.   A maximum of 2 of US Snowboarding coach’s discretion spots may be allowed per discipline.

1). Discretionary events could include, but are not limited to:

  • 2013 World Junior Championship results
  • Burton Global Open Events
  • USASA Nationals Open Class
  • Grand Prix events, all disciplines
  • 2012 -2013 Revolution Tour events
  • 2012- 2013 Race to the Cup events
  • Discretionary spots may also be based on outstanding performances, potential, attitude, and determination
